Hello Everyone,
Let’s get in the streets! This coming Saturday, millions of Americans will march with one unifying message: HANDS OFF. Hands off our healthcare, our public lands, our schools, our social security, our science. Hands off our democracy and our futures. Hands of our rights.
More than a thousand protests have been planned, with more added daily.

WHAT’S going on and WHY it’s important:
As the good folks at the How We Fight Back Substack put it: “Courage is contagious—and public, peaceful resistance is how it spreads.” In a time when the Trump administration is abducting and detaining students for writing op-eds, extorting law firms and universities, threatening federal judges, and aiming their revenge radar far and wide, we need to show mass resistance and solidarity. We ALL need to stand up, so the few in front can’t be singled out.
Momentum is building. Political scientists at Waging Nonviolence compare the number of protests from the beginnings of Trump’s first and second terms:

As they wrote at the end of their article, resistance is growing: “That Americans seem to be rediscovering the art, science and potency of noncooperation — combined with a robust protest capacity and legal action—shows that resistance against Trump’s agenda in America is not only alive and well. It is savvy, diversifying and probably just getting started.”
HOW we can engage:
1. Spread the word! Tell your friends, organize a sign making party, post fliers, share on social media. Here are printable materials to post around town. Here are digital resources for promoting on social.
2. If you’re interested in hearing movement leaders speak, sign up for a pre-rally mass call tonight at 8:00 pm EST. Speakers include MoveOn, Indivisible, American Federation of Teachers, and members of Congress.
3. Find a rally in your community and join on April 5! Wave your banners and sunflowers. Play your harmonicas and fiddles. If you’re planning on attending in Montpelier, here’s info on parking, and a Montpelier-specific poster to hang around town. There are also large protests planned in Brattleboro and Burlington, as well as many other locations around the state. See you in the streets!
